Carey is a former fashion model. She is 5'10" tall and was sought-after by the top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father, a distinguished scientist, who was awarded the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a renowned geologist. Carey's father was a geologist and traveled around the world as part of his career. As she attended in the University of Colorado at part-time and was able to catch the attention of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris and Bordeaux, before returning back to New York in order to explore her modeling career. She appeared on Vogue and Glamour pages. While modeling she also studied the study of literature in New York University. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She made her acting debut by playing a minor role in 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys ski, wind surfing and rock climbing. She also enjoys white water river rafting.
